Survivor David Wachsberg grew up in the town of Chrzanów, Poland with his siblings Charles (Chaimek), Sol (Shlomek), and Ann (Chana, married name Blum). He remembered experiencing antisemitism after the German invasion of Poland in September 1939. Wachsberg was imprisoned in multiple forced labor camps before being liberated by the Soviet army in 1945. He stayed in displaced persons camps before coming to the United States on October 31, 1949.
